All installations of 1st Affiliate Software come complete with all the tools needed to get started. The affiliate software, order form software, the images utility, web pages editor, a single started homepage, backup utility, plus configuration and language tools. The affiliate and order form software is limited until you upgrade to the paid version. The limitations include the number of affiliate accounts, number of affiliate programs, and number of orderforms. Upgrades can be performed at the time of ordering or anytime during the free 30 day period.
Below are 3 options you must consider before you purchase any affiliate software package.
1. Your affiliate and order taking site will require a unique domain. This may be a virtual domain, such as on our domain - 'yourname.1st-affiliate-software.com', or on your domain - 'anyname.yourdomain.tld'. You may also choose to have a new domain to run your site on, such as www.yourdomain.tld. (TLD stands for "Top Level Domain" such as '.com' or '.net') This new domain you decide to use and all software, except for ordering compliance programming, will be installed on our servers as a stand-alone site. If you do not have a domain to use we recommend you use yourname.1st-affiliate-software.com, if your using this software for only 1 other domain try something like affiliate.yourdomain.tld, or if you need multi-domain support we recommend you use a unique domain such as www.orderformsite.com.
• Note: If you have a SearchKing Portal, the software runs on your portal domain.
2. Your affiliate tracking is handled very easily with the accompanied order form software by simple selecting which affiliate program to use it with. If you have other order form software or shopping cart software this affiliate program needs to operate with, we have several options that are very easy to implement. If the program needs to track hits only, then your ready to go. Although, if the other software your using needs to pick up the affiliate account, or any other variable, you can use the append variables feature. This may require some customizing of your software!! In addition, if you need to show sales amounts or order confirmation in your affiliate stats, this will also require custom programming of your program.(see Custom Software under Pricing) If you will be using the 'cookies' to track visitors for return at a later date, the order taking program must be located on your affiliate site. This limitation is due to internet protocol specifications which state cookies must only be stored and retrieved on the local domain. All browsers support this specification and cookies can not be picked up from another domain.
3. If your taking information on your orders which requires security features, such as credit card information, then you should seriously consider a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) connection. These are certified on a per domain basis, therefore each unique domain requires its own certificate. If you will be using yourname.1st-affiliate-software.com an additional certificate is not required, though any other domain will require a unique certificate installed.
The above 3 options are not required to get started, we can add them, if any, at a later time. Any upgrades or changes in the future will not affect your data in any way. The short time it takes to set up these three options, if you need them, will give you a little time to get acquainted with your new affiliate software and order taking system. If you have not yet acquired a domain to use or have just not decided on one yet, you may use any name you wish as a virtual domain on 1st-affiliate-software.com. If you want us to register a new domain for you, just select the checkbox on the affiliate software order form. If you need assistance in choosing a domain, please use this domain registration form. If you are using the domain registration form and the affiliate software order form, omit the payment information on the domain reg. form and just make a note of your affiliate software order in the comment box of that form.
Custom Programming / Additional Software Installation: This will be handled on a per request basis. It is just impossible to cover all of the possible situations with one pricing structure. Please use our contact page for how to get in touch with us to go over the possible options with you. In many cases additional fees are not required and is covered by the setup fee, fees are usually based on the length of time to complete the task.
SSL Certificates / 128 bit Encryption Secure Ordering: Although this is not a required feature, it is highly recommended if you are asking for sensative information on your order forms.
You have 3 security options available.- Generic Key: Free, but not recommended. This will provide you with strong encryption, but is not registered to your site and visitors can not validate your site. This is the standard used by most other sites offering this service for free.
- You order the Certification from your preferred Certifying Authority: The key and certification request will be generated by us, this is required by internet protocals. Then we will mail your the encrypted request you will use to order you certification from your preferred authority. Once you have the certification, then just mail it back to us for installation on your site.
- - Recommended - Let Us Do It ALL: If you want to keep it simple, just choose this option. 3-4 business days is the normal time for certification by our certifying authority.
